This extended review of John Urry’s classic book about tourism has been written by Javier Caletrío as an accessible introduction to the concept for non-academic audiences and students of tourism. It is illustrated with 28 images and discusses in more detail the class dimensions of the gaze, an aspect of the book that deserves attention in light of growing inequalities.
